The Police Officers’ Association (POA) has reacted with surprise at the resignation of the police commissioner.

President of the POA, Superintendent Michael James, says the association will be meeting this afternoon to discuss the issue.

Superintendent James is hoping that the Police Service Commission will expedite the process of appointing the next commissioner of police.

In the meantime, the Police Federation says its members will also be meeting today to discuss the implications of the commissioner’s resignation.
