Authority closes Rollginton Town clinic

2009-11-03 08:40:19 | (0 Comments)

The South East Regional Health Authority has temporarily closed the Rollington Town Health Centre in Kingston.

The decision to close the facility follows a murder at the clinic yesterday morning.

The Health Authority said it made the decision to temporarily close the health centre because the incident has traumatized the staff who witnessed the shooting.

In the meantime, Donald Farquharson, the regional director for the South East Regional Health Authority said counseling is being provided for the staff.

In addition Mr Farquharson said the affected staff members have been given time off to recuperate.

Mr Farquharson said the health centre would be reopened after a full assessment of the incident, indicating that staff and patients are not at risk.

During the period of closure, patients of the Rollington Town Health Centre may use the Windward Road and the Norman Gardens Health Centres.
