NewsNWC responds St Catherine protest2009-11-03 08:42:28 | (0 Comments)
The National Water Commission (NWC) is seeking to assure the residents of Fairview Park in St Catherine that it will reinstate the roads that will be dug up to lay pipes.
Yesterday, the residents protested against the pipe-laying project, saying the state of the roads will worsen. The NWC says it’s regrettable that people decided to demonstrate because it is prepared to repair the roads once the project is completed. According to the commission, the residents were notified that the works would be undertaken but they did not participate in the consultations. The NWC said the laying of pipes in Fairview Park, St Catherine is part of an upgrading initiative under phase two of a water supply project. In the meantime, the NWC is asking residents to be more understanding as it continues to improve its services. Meanwhile, the NWC said the disruption in the water supply to sections of Manchester should be corrected by later today. The affected communities include Ingleside, and section of Grey Ground and Grove Place. The NWC said the disruption is as a result of an electrical problem at the Comfort Hall re-lift station in the parish. Source: Gleaner/Power 106 News Your Comments
