Opposition wants better security arrangements at health centers

2009-11-03 12:59:57 | (0 Comments)

The Opposition People's National Party wants the health minister to present the findings of a review of security arrangements at public health facilities, which was ordered last year.

Health Minister Rudyard Spencer reportedly ordered the review following an incident at the Bustamante Hospital for Children.

The call by the Opposition also follows the shooting death of a patient at
the Rollington Town Health Center in Kingston yesterday.

The Opposition spokesman on Health, Dr Fenton Ferguson said the country is yet to be informed of the outcome of the health ministry’s review.

There have also been reported incidents involving gunmen at the St Jago Health Centre in St Catherine, the Princess Margaret Hospital in St Thomas and the Kingston Public Hospital.

Dr Ferguson also wants to know what security arrangements are being planned for other major hospitals and health centers.
