Inland revenue swoops down on Bells

2009-11-06 18:02:44 | (0 Comments)

A team from the Inland Revenue Department today swooped down on Bells Engineering Company in Kingsland Manchester.

The team went to the company and seized six trucks and other items because Bells Engineering has not been paying over its taxes.

The taxes include GCT, education tax and income taxes.

The tax officials would not disclose the actual amount owed, but they indicated that it was very substantial and dates back to several years.

They say they have been in discussion with Maxi Bell, the operator of Bell’s Engineering, however, no satisfactory effort has been made to clear the debt.

In September, an enforcement notice was also served on the company, but the management still did not honour the obligations.

The company has ten days to rectify the matter failing which the seized items will be auctioned to pay the taxes.
