Trade Unionist, Lambert Brown wants the team assigned to spearhead the restructuring of the public sector to engage Jamaicans in the transformation process.

The Public Sector Transformation Unit, which started its work on Monday, is headed by former Permanent Secretary in Office of the Prime Minister, Patricia Sinclair McCalla.

Mr. Brown who is the Vice-President of the University and Allied Workers Union is urging the government to provide specific details on the country’s economic status.

President of the National Workers Union, Vincent Morrison wants the government to rethink the restructuring exercise.

He believes displaced public sector workers will remain jobless, as they’re not likely to be employed in the private sector.

Mrs. Sinclair McCalla said Jamaicans will not see the results of the restructuring exercise until about the middle of next year.

Mrs. Sinclair-McCalla said she is willing to have consultations with trade unions and other stakeholders.

She has given Permanent Secretaries two weeks to submit operational reports which she said are critical to the restructuring and transformation exercise.
