NewsGreenvale under police microscope2009-11-27 08:36:35 | (0 Comments)
The national security minister has announced that the community of Greenvale in central Manchester will receive special focus under the national crime plan.
Senator Dwight Nelson made the announcement last night during a consultation crime forum in Mandeville. He was responding to a query by the North West Manchester MP Dean Peart. Mr Peart had raised questions about the Government’s failure to honour a promise to erect a police post in Greenvale. The prospective location had been identified, but the promise never materialized and Mr Peart said there has been no further word on the matter. Greenvale has long been considered to be one of the breeding grounds for criminal activity in Manchester. According to Senator Nelson, Greenvale has come on the radar and it is one of the areas that will be targeted. Mr Peart has welcomed the announced increased policing for Greenvale saying it will provide relief to law-abiding citizens. He said criminal elements were threatening the potential benefits of several projects, which were being pursued in the community. Source: Gleaner/Power 106 News Your Comments
