Wellesley Crooks, a bearer who resided in Greenvale, Manchester, was shot and killed by gunmen in Mandeville minutes after noon today.
According to reports, Crooks went to the Scotiabank on the corner of Ward Avenue and Caledonia road and upon leaving, was pounced upon by two gun men who grabbed a bag that he had over his shoulder.
A customer inside the bank told The Gleaner that she had just entered the bank when she heard three to four explosions that sounded like gunshots.
She then said bank personnel moved quickly to secure the bank.
Crooks was taken to the Mandeville Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Mandeville police said they are working with “strong” leads, and are questioning a suspect in the incident.
This is the second incident robbery incident in the area within the past two months.
Gunmen robbed a customer of US$3,000 last month just after she emerged from another bank, which is located almost opposite of Scotiabank.
