NewsLinstead Bus Park construction to begin2011-12-07 13:05:07 | (0 Comments)
Monique Grange, Gleaner Writer
Newly appointed Transport Minister Shahine Robinson is expected to announce plans this afternoon about the construction of the Linstead Bus Park in St. Catherine. An Implementation Ceremony for Phase 1 of the construction of the Transportation Centre is scheduled for 2 p.m. The absence of a proper bus park has been a sore point for taxi and bus operators and commuters in the busy town. Ground was broken from as far back as July 2007 for the construction of the facility. Since then, nothing has been done to the marl-covered site which is located along King Street. Transport operators have also been complaining about the dust nuisance and the lack of proper sanitary facilities. The Transport Authority said the implementation of the project should result in improved transportation facilities for over 400 transport operators and reduced congestion in the town. The site is used by operators plying the Linstead to Spanish Town, Guys Hill and Bog Walk routes. monique.grange@gleanerjm.com Source: The Gleaner/Power 106 News Send your images, videos and updates to youreport@gleanerjm.com | Click here to Comment Your Comments
