No vote today for some cops
2011-12-22 18:11:53 | with audio | (0 Comments)
Some St. Catherine police personnel will have to wait until Election Day to cast their votes because their names did not appear on the voters' list for members of the security force.
There was some confusion with voting today at the Jamaica Police Academy in Twickenham Park and the Greater Portmore Police Station polling divisions in the St. Catherine Eastern constituency.
Returning Officer for the constituency Sonia Nelson told The Gleaner/Power 106 News Centre that their names were not on the list because some police personnel did not indicate that their occupation had changed when they were enumerated.
However, Nelson says they will be able to vote with the general population on December 29.
Meanwhile, she said despite the minor glitch, the process went well.
