Jamaica Labour Party candidate for West Kingston, Desmond McKenzie voted about 1:20 p.m. today, in the presence of his mentor and former Member of Parliament (MP), Edward Seaga at the Tivoli Gardens Comprehensive High School.

Claiming a sure victory in West Kingston, McKenzie told reporters that his only challenge is to provide representation comparable to that of Seaga's.

Having completed 30 years as councillor for the Western Kingston division, McKenzie said he was seeking many years as the constituency's MP.

"Five years is a long time and my representation is going to be predicated on a five year period," he said.

Meanwhile, Seaga said he was pleased to see McKenzie in line to become the next MP.

"I feel happier in knowing that he is the successor because I know that he will take care of the people," Seaga said.
