St. Catherine South police increase gun seizures in 2011

2012-01-02 10:40:47 | (0 Comments)

The St. Catherine South police say they seized a total of 92 guns in 2011, 24 more than they did in 2010.

The division seized two of the illegal guns in Waterford, Portmore and Old Harbour on New Year’s Eve.

The police say at about 11:00 o’ clock Saturday night, a patrol team accosted a man in Waterford who, they say, fired at them. He was shot and killed and a pistol found.

The dead man has since been identified as 39 year-old Sean Morgan, also known as ‘Munda.’ The incident is being investigated by the Bureau of Special Investigations.

Two hours following that incident the police say they recovered a handgun in an open lot in Old Harbour.
