Just days before the new government is sworn in, members of civil society are already giving their views on the issues they want the People’s National Party (PNP) to address.
President of the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica, Joseph Matalon, says in addition to reviewing the agreement with the International Monetary Fund, the new government should seek to eliminate corruption in the public and private sector.
On the issue of education, the president of the National Youth Council of Jamaica, Ryan Small, says more funding should be allocated towards youth empowerment.
He said he wants the PNP to better communicate with young people on issues affecting them, and give them full representation in parliament.
Meanwhile, the president of the Students' Union Council at the University of Technology Jheanell Johnson says more job opportunities should be created for the youth.
