Cop in Christmas Day killing granted bail

The policeman implicated in the murder of one of his colleagues has been granted bail in the sum of $300,000 with one or two sureties.

Special Constable Courtney Linton is accused of the Christmas Day shooting death of Constable Shaun Howe.

In offering bail, Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey ordered the Special Constable Linton to surrender his travel documents and that a stop order be placed on him.

Linton is to return to court on February 1.

It’s reported that Constable Howe was shot and killed at a dance on D'Aguilar Road, Kingston 11 on Christmas Day.

According to reports, close to the end of the dance, Constable Howe left his colleagues to urinate in an open lot where he was shot dead.

Linton was later arrested and charged with his murder.

Both the Independent Commission of Investigations and the Bureau of Special Investigations are probing the incident.
