Man who assaulted 8-y-o boy gets 3-year sentence

A 30-year-old man is to serve a three years hard labour prison sentence after being convicted on indecent assault charges in the St Catherine Circuit Court on Friday.

The, man who is from rural St Catherine, was convicted on Crown-led evidence which alleged that on April 28, 2010, he assaulted an eight-year-old boy.

Court documents state that the boy was taken to the house of the accused where his clothes were removed by the man who then performed an indecent act on him. The man then gave the child marbles and told him not to report the incident.

However, the child reported the matter to his mother and a report was made to the Bog Walk Police who launched an investigation.

The man was subsequently arrested and charged with indecent assault on a male.
