The 71-year-old woman who was seriously injured and hospitalised when two cars collided in Cross Roads, St Andrew this morning has died.

The Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) reported this afternoon that Violet Lynch, who is from Greenwich Road, Kingston 13, succumbed to her injuries.

Alvin Mitchell, the driver of the taxi which allegedly caused the collision, has been slapped with three charges and is scheduled to appear in the Traffic Court tomorrow.

According to the CCN, Mr Mitchell was driving a Toyota Corolla motorcar along Retirement Road in Cross Roads, St Andrew about 7 a.m. when he allegedly overtook a vehicle which had stopped at a traffic sign. He collided in a Ssang Yong motor car, which ran into a bus stop in which Ms Lynch was standing. The vehicle pinned her to a wall.

Ms Lynch, who was on her way to church, was rushed to hospital in serious condition, but she later died.
