The finance Minister Dr. Peter Phillips is today expected to reveal the highly-expected economic plan, for the remainder of the financial year and its fiscal programme going forward.

Dr. Phillips has called a press conference for 1 p.m. today, to present the details.

The state of the economy was a primary issue at the four-day Cabinet retreat which was concluded on Sunday.

Jamaica House said the Cabinet examined the state of the deal with the International Monetary Fund and prospects for a new agreement.

Spending priority for each ministry for the remainder of the financial year and the strategic priority for 2012/2013 and beyond were also reportedly discussed.

Jamaica House said the Cabinet discussed the Jamaica Emergency Employment Programme, which will be presented to Parliament later this month.
