Tourism Minister Dr Wykeham McNeill says the new board of directors for the Jamaica Tourist Board, JTB, will have to move swiftly to address a number of critical issues.

Two of those issues, McNeill says, are marketing and the organisational structure of the JTB.

He says the issue of marketing has to be high on the agenda as Jamaica seeks to bolster its position in traditional markets while tapping into emerging ones.

The Tourism Minister says despite the many global awards, the JTB should also seek to constantly review its organisational structure in an attempt to improve efficiencies and enhance internal structures.

McNeill says he is confident the new JTB directors have the right skill set to move the organisation forward and steer the country’s tourism sector to new frontier.

The 10-member board announced earlier this week, will be chaired by Dennis Morrison and includes President of the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association Evelyn Smith and former director of tourism Paul Pennicook.
