Cops on ‘extreme’ alert in St. Catherine

The Police High Command has raised the threat level for police personnel in the St. Catherine North Division to extreme.

This means that attacks by criminals on police personnel and their facilities is imminent.

According to the high command, during the course of last week, criminal gangs made several threats against police personnel.

The police high command is urging police personnel, who live and work in Spanish Town and its environs, to regard the threats as serious and to raise their level of awareness both on and off duty.

The high command is advising that deployments must not fall below defensive levels.

Personnel should also be prepared to act swiftly and decisively in defence of themselves and their colleagues.

Meanwhile, the police high command is giving police personnel its full backing in any lawful action to defend themselves and citizens.

The High Command has also directed the Police Control Centre to regularly broadcast security reminders, to all police personnel to keep them alert.
