The second edition of the Wray and Nephew The Contender Boxing Series begins this evening at the Chinese Benevolent Association auditorium, starting at 8:30.

There will be two amateur bouts followed by the live telecast of the main bout over six rounds on Television Jamaica, starting at 9:30.

The series comprises 16 boxers grouped in two teams, Green and Yellow, vying for substantial prize money.

The winner of the competition will take home one million dollars and the Wray and Nephew Welterweight Contender 2012 title.

The runner-up will pocket $500,000, third $250,000 and fourth $200,000

The series was very successful last year with Rikardo Smith winning the inaugural title. Smith defeated Devon Moncrieffe by way of an eighth-round TKO victory.
