A woman is in police custody after allegedly being held with cocaine at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston.

The Jamaica Customs Department says the drug is valued at approximately $7.9 million.

The Customs Department says the cocaine was found in the soles of 17 pairs of shoes which were confiscated from the luggage of a female passenger at the airport yesterday.

The department says the woman had arrived in Jamaica on a flight from Curacao.

The passenger was taken into custody and the cocaine seized and handed over to the Trans National Crime and Narcotics Division for weighing and testing.
