Pop icon Whitney Houston buried today

Pop legend Whitney Houston was buried today in a private ceremony attended by relatives and close friends in New Jersey, in the United States.

The Grammy award winning singer was buried beside her father John Russell Houston at the Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.

This follows a memorial service yesterday at the New Hope Baptist Church in her hometown of Newark, New Jersey.

The 48-year-old Houston was found dead in a hotel room in Los Angeles, California last Saturday. She was found submerged in the bath, but officials say they are awaiting the results of toxicology tests to determine the cause of death.

Meanwhile her ex-husband, singer Bobby Brown released a statement explaining why he left yesterday’s memorial service prematurely. Brown says security personnel asked him to move on at least three occasions and he did not want to become a distraction.
