WESTERN BUREAU:
A corruption investigation has been initiated against two traffic cops who were taken into custody in Montego Bay, St James on Friday.

However, The Gleaner/Power 106 News Centre understands that formal charges have not yet been laid against the policemen.

Sources say the probe stems from an incident in which a motorist was cited for a traffic violation.

Commanding officer for the St James Police Division, Senior Superintendent Linnette Williams-Martin confirmed that the policemen are in custody, but says she had no details about to the circumstances that led to their detention.
