NewsLabourites protest in Fellowship division2012-02-20 09:26:42 | (0 Comments)
Gareth Davis, Gleaner Writer
Ahead of the local Government election, there is deep disquiet among Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), supporters in the Fellowship division in Portland. Yesterday, dozens of them took the streets in Toms Hope demanding the removal of their councillor, Margaret Phillips. The placard-bearing Labourites were adamant that Phillips is a non-performer, who should be replaced ahead of the upcoming Local government elections. One of the protestors, Danny White, said Labourites wanted to send a clear message to the JLP hierarchy. He said the Labourites were not prepared to accept any form of arrogance or dictatorship. In the 2007, parish council elections, Margaret Phillips defeated Benny White less than a year after White switched from the JLP to the People’s National Party. Phillips had polled 1,228 votes to White’s 1,104. radio@gleanerjm.com Source: The Gleaner/Power 106 News Send your images, videos and updates to youreport@gleanerjm.com | Click here to Comment Your Comments
