GRENADA: PM rues court dispute with Taiwan

2012-02-22 11:50:41 | (0 Comments)

Prime Minister Tillman Thomas, says the ongoing dispute between his island and Taiwan should never have reached the courts.

But Thomas says the legal team must continue to work and redress is expected shortly.

Taiwan has embarked on an all-out effort to recover EC$70 million that Grenada owes to the Taiwan Export Exim Bank.

The Thomas administration believes Taipei is mainly seeking revenge for the decision by the previous Keith Mitchell regime to sever diplomatic relations in favour of China, which regards Taiwan as a renegade province.
