The 36th staging of the Gibson Relays will take place today at the National Stadium and track and field fans can expect fierce competition with just a month before the Boys and Girls’ Championships.

All the top high schools and clubs will take part. In addition seven overseas-based teams are down to compete with Flying Angels out of Canada having a contingent of 50 athletes.

The girls’ team of Edwin Allen High School and Racers Track Club, the home of the world’s fastest man Usain Bolt, are set to dominate the event.

Bolt, the triple Olympic champion and world record holder, will not compete.

However, Bolt’s Racers Track Club teammate, the world 100-metre champion Yohan Blake is down to participate.

The meet will get under way at 9:30 in the morning with the 4x400 metres Open for high school boys.
