InternationalMandela in stable condition2012-02-25 12:36:27 | (0 Comments)
Former South African President Nelson Mandela is said to be in stable condition after undergoing surgery overnight.
South African officials say Mr Mandela was taken to hospital because of a long-standing abdominal complaint which required specialist medical attention. However, they have declined to release any information on Mr Mandela’s status, saying any further statement would only be released after President Jacob Zuma has been briefed by medical specialists. But the BBC is reporting that 93-year-old anti-apartheid icon is talking and is likely to leave hospital tomorrow. In a statement released after Mr Mandela’s hospitalisation, President Zuma’s office said the love and good wishes of all South Africans and people throughout the world were with him, and asked for privacy for the family. editorial@gleanerjm.com Source: The Gleaner/Power 106 News Send your images, videos and updates to youreport@gleanerjm.com | Click here to Comment Your Comments
