B'dos Gov't report claims finger-rape of J'can woman is false

2012-02-26 18:00:39 | (0 Comments)

A report commissioned by the Barbados Government into allegations by a Jamaican woman that she was subjected to an unlawful cavity search at the Grantley Adams airport in the country last year, has said the accusations were fabricated.

The complainant, Shanique Myrie, said she was searched by immigration officials upon entry into the country on March 14.

However, Starbroek News reports that a Government report has revealed that a thorough police investigation had found Myrie’s finger-rape allegations to be untrue.

The case is to be heard before the Trinidad-based Caribbean Court of Justice in April.

Attorney representing the Barbados Government, Roger Forde, QC, told the Barbados’ Sunday Sun newspaper that the government will stoutly defend its position.
