Head of the Police Traffic Division, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Radcliffe Lewis says, come tomorrow, the police will be targeting illegal transport operators in the Kingston Metropolitan Region.

He says the operation will target illegal transporters who ply the Duhaney Park to downtown Kingston route; Papine to downtown Kingston; Constant Spring to downtown Kingston; Papine to Half-Way-Tree and Mountain View to Half-Way-Tree routes.

The operation will last for three months. According to SSP Lewis, many illegal operators acquire rural transport licences, but operate on routes within the Corporate Area.

He says the operation is one of the initiatives being employed to regulate the transport industry. He says the Transport Authority is to outline other initiatives at a later date.
