PNP to discuss Region Six impasse

2012-02-27 09:03:21 | (0 Comments)

The executive of the People’s National Party’s (PNP) is tonight expected to discuss an impasse over the party’s candidate for the Sandy Bay division in Hanover.

The seat is currently held by Mayor of Lucea Councillor Lloyd Hill.

During a meeting at the Knockalva Technical High School yesterday, tempers flared as Hill’s supporters protested plans to replace him.

The mêlée resulted in region six chairman, Dr. D.K. Duncan, making an early departure and the police being called in to quell the dispute.

Our news centre understands that five people, including a former Mayor of Lucea, have applied to replace Mayor Hill.

However, a decision is yet to be made as the selection process has been extended to Wednesday.
