Taliban car bomber kills nine at Afghan airport

2012-02-27 13:29:14 | (0 Comments)

At least nine people have been killed after an alleged Taliban suicide car bomber detonated a bomb at Jalalabad airport in eastern Afghanistan.

The insurgents said the bombing was in revenge for a Koran-burning incident at a US air base a week ago.

The burning, which the US said was unintentional, has sparked violent protests across the country.

NATO said it has no reports of international forces being among the casualties in Jalalabad.

The airport serves both civilian and international military aircraft.
The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack.
