The National Solid waste management Authority (NSWMA) is set to improve its waste management capabilities through funding from a Japanese agency.

The NSWMA and the Japan International Corporation Agency have signed an agreement, which will see the expansion of the NSWMA’s composting facility to make it more efficient and increase output.

Local government minister, Noel Arscott, said the partnership will provide the NSWMA with machinery valued at US$400,000.

He said employees of the agency will visit China and Japan, to participate in training in compost and landfill management.
