Government Pharmacist Valerie Germain is to be reinstated on Monday.

It is understood that the decision to reinstate Germain was made a few days ago by the Public Service Commission (PSC) and communicated to the Health Minister Dr. Fenton Ferguson.

Germain was interdicted in November 2011, following comments she made on Television Jamaica’s Smile Jamaica morning programme.

She had expressed concern that unsupervised pharmacy technicians were being used to dispense medication in the public health sector.

Germain was speaking as president of the Pharmaceutical Society of Jamaica against the background of the shortage of Government pharmacists.

It is understood that Germain has been issued a warning letter by the PSC, but the commission says her action did not demand separation.
