DPP to update Jamaica on Keith Clarke case

The high level team in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions which was set up recently to review the file submitted by the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) into the death of businessman Keith Clarke will today update the country on the case.

In a Gleaner query about the examination of the file, Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Paula Llewellyn Q.C., said that a preliminary review has been completed by the team comprising two deputy directors of public prosecutions and two crown counsels.

She told The Gleaner that her office would issue a press release on the matter today.

On April 11 the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) submitted a file to the DPP for a ruling on the controversial killing.

The DPP is expected to rule at some point on whether members of the security forces should face criminal charges for the death of the businessman.

Clarke was killed on May 27, 2010 in his upper St Andrew house during one of the many raids launched by the security forces to capture then fugitive Christopher 'Dudus' Coke.

A post-mortem revealed Clarke was shot 22 times.
