Cook ponders legal challenge

2012-06-11 14:51:36 | (0 Comments)

World number one Aaron Cook is expected to announce this week whether he will launch a legal challenge to his omission from Great Britain's Olympic taekwondo team.

Cook's non-selection for London 2012 has provoked a huge row within the sport and beyond as Lutalo Muhammad, ranked 59th in the world, was picked ahead of him in the under-80 kilogram division.

The British Olympic Association (BOA), ratified Muhammad’s nomination at the third time of asking last Friday.

Cook was overlooked three times by Great Britain Taekwondo, with the BOA and the World Taekwondo Federation launching reviews into the selection process.

However, barring any intervention from the World Taekwondo Federation, it appears taking his case to the courts is the 21-year-old's last hope of participating at London 2012.
