Economic empowerment needed to build Jamaica

Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller says the country’s continued development will be best achieved through the economic empowerment of all Jamaicans.

Simpson Miller says this is an investment that must be made if Jamaicans are to compete effectively in the modern globalised world.

She was speaking at a ceremony at Jamaica House to honour 40 persons with the appreciation medal for service to education.

Underscoring the importance of education, Simpson Miller says it is a sure path out of poverty and praised the country’s educators for consistently producing generations of qualified workers in all sectors.
