PM remembers Arthur Williams Sr

2012-06-16 12:59:08 | (0 Comments)

Simpson Miller has expressed sadness at the passing of former Deputy Speaker in the House of Representatives Arthur Williams Senior.

Mr Williams, who is the father of Opposition Senator Arthur Williams Junior, died yesterday.

Mrs Simpson Miller says Mr Williams came from a generation of Jamaicans who believed in taking the vocation of teaching beyond the classroom.

She says this is one of the reasons he spent most of his active adult life giving of his knowledge, skills, and energy in politics on behalf of the people of Manchester.

Mrs Simpson Miller says Mr Williams demonstrated the remarkable ability to be a tenacious politician while maintaining the decency and decorum of a gentleman and adds that this earned him respect across the party political divide.
