Emotions are flying after 23-year-old Shantel Davis was reportedly shot in the chest on during what the NYPD describes as a wild struggle.

Caribbean lawmakers in the State of New York are today expressing outrage over the shooting death of an unarmed Trinidadian-American woman by a member of the New York Police Department, NYPD.

Twenty-three-year-old Shantel Davis was reportedly shot in the chest on Thursday during what the NYPD describes as a wild struggle after she tried to drive away from a car collision in the borough of Brooklyn.

Haitian-born New York City Councilman Dr Mathieu Eugene says he is saddened by the killing and is urging the NYPD to conduct a careful, complete and independent investigation of all the circumstances that led to the shooting.
