The Opposition Jamaica Labour Party(JLP), has paid tribute to Arthur Williams Snr.
Williams, popularly known as Teacher Williams died on Thursday evening, two months before his 99th birthday. Williams, who has been described as a JLP stalwart served as a Member of Parliament for Manchester South for three terms, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Education. In 2000 he was awarded the Order of Distinction. The JLP and Opposition Leader Andrew Holness says Williams was a true patriot who served his country with distinction and had a positive and lasting impact on the lives of many Jamaicans. "His solid work as a Member of Parliament for South Manchester in addition to his work as an educator, Senior Justice of the Peace, Lay Preacher and farmer is awe-inspiring and lives on to this very day," Holness said. He also said Williams was a shining example of a truly disciplined, progressive and committed Jamaican. Holness has extended condolences on behalf of the JLP to Williams' children: Senator Arthur Williams, Dr. Geoffrey Williams, Dr. Maureen Williams, and Pansy Young; and the rest of his family and friends. editorial@gleanerjm.com Source: The Gleaner/Power 106 News Send your images, videos and updates to youreport@gleanerjm.com | Click here to Comment Your Comments
