Officials at the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) are now assessing damage to one of its luxury air-conditioned buses which was set on fire today.

It’s reported that sometime after 3 o’ clock this afternoon the bus, which plies the Chancery to Half-Way-Tree route, was driven into the Half-Way-Tree Transport Centre to let off passengers.

It’s further reported that sometime later fire was seen coming from the bus.

JUTC personnel used extinguishers to tackle the blaze.

The fire caused damage to a back glass and a side window.

Corporate Communications Manager at the JUTC Reginald Allen says this is the third time since the start of the year that unscrupulous persons have set fire to the company’s buses.

Allen is urging these persons to desist and he is encouraging individuals to report these people to the authorities.
