JAAA stands by decision on accreditation fees

2012-06-21 15:08:44 | (0 Comments)

The Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAAs), is sticking by its decision to charge a fee of $1,000 or US$12 for accreditation of athletes’ support staff for next week’s Supreme Ventures Limited National Senior Championships.

A notice on the JAAA accreditation website stated that athletes’ coaches, agents, massage therapists and trainers would be subjected to the fee in order to gain accreditation for access to warm up and athletes’ seating areas inside the National Stadium.

The notice hasn’t gone down well among coaches.

However, JAAA’s president Dr Warren Blake said the funds will be used to recover cost associated with a new online accreditation system.

Dr Blake said the accreditation system is a major cost and the cost has to be recovered.

Dr Blake said the $1,000 is a standard fee and it is being applied in other areas of the world.

The National Senior Championships, Jamaica’s Olympic Trials, will be held from June 28 to July 1.
