NewsIDT rules in favour of Jambisco workers2012-06-26 12:42:24 | (0 Comments)
Jerome Reynolds, Gleaner Writer
Some workers at the Jamaica Biscuit Company Limited, Jambisco, are set to see an increase in their salaries as the Industrial Dispute Tribunal (IDT) has ruled that the company implement a job evaluation exercise. The exercise was carried out by the company between 2005 and 2006 following the acquisition of another biscuit company, Caribbean Brand. The Union of Clerical, Administrative and Supervisory Employees, UCASE, says the exercise resulted in the upward adjustment in compensation to some workers. Senior Negotiating Officer Robert Harris Senior says despite several attempts over the years to settle the matter no agreement was reached. He has hailed yesterday’s ruling as a victory for the workers as it will result in a significant increase in the basic salaries of unionized employees. He says the IDT also ruled that Jambisco implement the job evaluation exercise effective April 1, 2011. jerome.reynolds@gleanerjm.com Source: The Gleaner/Power 106 News Send your images, videos and updates to youreport@gleanerjm.com | Click here to Comment Your Comments
