More than 80 per cent of Olympic tickets sold

2012-06-28 10:39:34 | (0 Comments)

More than 80 percent of all Olympics tickets - some seven million - have been sold.

Organisers of the London Organising Committee say a million were bought in the last month and several thousand were yet to be made available.

The organisers say excluding football, 90 per cent of all tickets had been sold but tickets remained for volleyball, boxing, weightlifting and basketball.

Some tens of thousands have yet to be made available from a remaining pool of contingency tickets.

There had been a small trickle of returned tickets including a very small number of pairs of 100-metre finals seats, which would be released on to the general website when cleared for resale.

Meanwhile, to mark a month to go to the opening ceremony of the Games, a track by rock band Muse, called Survival, was announced as the official theme.

London 2012 chairman Lord Coe watched as giant Olympic rings were lowered into place on Tower Bridge.
