West Indies ‘A’ beat India ‘A’

West Indies ‘A’ will take a 1-0 lead into the second one-day match against India ‘A’ after scoring a two-wicket victory yesterday at the National Stadium in Grenada.

Set 191 to win, West Indies ‘A’ reached the victory target with three balls remaining.

An unbroken 35-run ninth wicket stand between captain Veerasammy Permaul, 22, and Jamaican leg spinner Nikita Miller, 12, fired the Caribbean side home.

Jonathan Carter top scored for West Indies ‘A’ with 39, while Kirk Edwards supported with 33. Ashok Dinda ended with three for 35.

Earlier, India ‘A’ were dismissed for 190 off 49.5 overs.

Permaul ended as the most successful bowler for West Indies ‘A’ with four for 28 from eight overs.

Jason Holder and Jonathan Carter supported with two wickets each.
