Former captains Tillakaratne Dilshan and Kumar Sangakkara both hit hundreds to help hosts Sri Lanka to 278 for five at stumps on day four of the second test against Pakistan at Sinhalese Sports Club today.
Sri Lanka now trail by 273 runs going into tomorrow’s final day. Resuming from an overnight score of 70 for one, Dilshan and Sangakkara added 225 runs for the second wicket in reply to Pakistan’s first innings score of 551 for six declared. Sangakkara is unbeaten on 144, while Dilshan made 121. During his knock, Dilshan went on to become the eighth Sri Lanka batsman to reach 5 thousand test runs. After the stand was broken, there was a rush of wickets as Sri Lanka lost four for just 42 runs. Junaid Khan has so far picked up three for 56. Sri Lanka lead the series 1-0 after winning the first test at Galle.
