Major flooding in Guyana

2012-07-05 13:53:44 | (0 Comments)

Several homes and other buildings are now under water in New Amsterdam near Guyana’s Atlantic coast, as heavy rains and the overflowing of the Berbice River have caused severe flooding.

Officials said thousands of people have been affected as houses close to the river bank were inundated, forcing many to flee their homes.

There are also reports of residents suffering severe losses of livestock, farms and household items.
