BARCELONA Spain: Jamaica’s men’s 4x100 metres team which will line-up in the final of the event at 2:50pm will be without the country’s fastest junior, Julian Forte, who suffered a grade two muscle strain in his right hamstring during yesterday’s 200m final. Team doctor Lincoln Cox says it appears to be a grade two muscle strain. Forte had established a lead, but was forced to pull up because of the injury and ended up finishing eighth in 21 seconds. Meanwhile, Jamaica’s 4x400 metres women and men have advanced to tomorrow’s finals. The women will run at 12:45 p.m and the men at 1:10 pm after victories in their semi-final heats. The women ran 3:34.91 and the men, 3:08.83. The pair of Chrisdale McCarty and Samantha Scarlet failed to advance to tomorrow’s final of the women’s 100m hurdles after finishing third in their heats. McCarty, who was in tears following her race, was in contention for a top two finish which would have guaranteed her automatic qualification, but made contact with hurdle nine and slowed down considerably. Scarlet stuttered at the start of her race, due to what she says was nervousness, and had to play catch-up; eventually coming home in 13.88 seconds. World leader and fastest qualifier, Janieve Russell will go in the 400m hurdlers final at 1:45 p.m. sports@gleanerjm.com Source: The Gleaner/Power 106 News Send your images, videos and updates to youreport@gleanerjm.com | Click here to Comment Your Comments
