A day after arriving in Washington to take up the post of Ambassador to the United States, Professor Stephen Vasciannie was at the Organisation of American States presenting his credentials.

His posting to Washington also means he will be Jamaica’s new Permanent Representative of Jamaica to the OAS.

Yesterday, Ambassador Vasciannie reassured the Secretary General, Jose Miguel Insulza that Jamaica is fully committed to the OAS Charter and to the organisation’s essential purposes.

He also said he was looking forward to developing even closer ties with the organisation and its Secretariat.

Earlier in the day, Ambassador Vasciannie held private meetings with both the Secretary General and the Assistant Secretary General, Albert Ramdin.
