Jamaican swimmer Alia Atkinson will seek to secure a spot for Jamaica in 100-metre breaststroke when she competes in the semi-final in less than two hours.

She is scheduled to compete at 1:50 p.m. local time. This morning Atkinson became the first Jamaican swimmer to win a heat at the Olympics Games, after swimming to a national record 1:07.39 in heat three of the competition inside London’s Aquatics Centre.

Leading from start to finish, the 23-year-old believes she will be able to compete admirably with the fastest qualifiers in tomorrow’s finals.

Atkinson will also compete in the 200-metre breaststroke and the 50-metre freestyle.
