Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has said the United States (US)has a "moral imperative" to stop Iran from developing nuclear weapons.
Speaking during a visit to Jerusalem, Romney described Iran as the most destabilising country in the world. He says the US recognised Israel's right to defend itself and that it was right for the US to stand with Israel.
He also referred to Jerusalem as Israel's "capital", which senior Palestinian officials said was "unacceptable".
In his speech in front of Jerusalem's Old City, Romney added that Iran's leading ayatollahs were "testing” the US’ “moral defences".
